Creating Energy & Climate Resilience in the Kootenay-Columbia Region of BC

The effects of Climate Change are being experienced in every corner of the globe.

Extreme weather events are becoming increasingly attributable to the increase in average global temperatures, driven largely by human activities. We must take urgent action through the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Decarbonization of energy, industry, and transportation is essential but also represents an opportunity to build regional resilience around decentralized energy and more localized supply chains. CIRES was formed to take leadership on the dual challenges of energy transition and ecosystem protection.
